The Park is a beautifully designed, purpose built Early Childhood Centre located on the old Athletic Park rugby ground in Newtown. We welcome you and your child to what we trust will be an extension of your home. Kelburn Playcentre has been supporting tamariki from birth to 6 years to learn in a warm, encouraging, family-based environment since 1941. We are a parent-led cooperative committed to the Playcentre philosophy that parents are the first and best educators of their children, and that children learn best through play. We believe in empowering adults and children to play, learn, and grow together; in providing ongoing educational opportunities for our parent volunteers; and in the educational benefits of messy, noisy and child-directed play.

Our Childspace Karori centre provides high quality care and education for infants and toddlers in a nurturing, respectful environment. We are located at 81 Old Karori Road and cater for both part and full time spaces. The centre is licensed for 22 infants and toddlers per day, and has a team of 7 teachers. We also have a centre kai creator (cook) who spends her days preparing nutritious and tasty meals for all of the children.
