Heartlands was established in 2001 by the Government to improve the delivery and accessibility of government and non-government services in rural communities and ensure whanau residing in rural and isolated areas have equitable access to the services they need. Heartlands Te Kuiti provides communities with a space to come together kanohi-ki-te-kanohi (face-to-face), connecting whanau with the services and support they need. This includes access to technology - computers, phone, and free wifi. The space is accessible, safe, and welcoming. Heartlands community hubs can also provide access for whanau needing to connect with agencies and services via videoconferencing.
