Bay of Plenty Golf Association

Bay of Plenty Golf, founded as the Bay of Plenty District Golf Association on May 1, 1948, governs golf in the Bay of Plenty Region. Its original clubs included Rotorua, Opotiki, Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Whakatane, Te Puke, Springfield, and Taupo. In 1956, the Thames Valley-Bay of Plenty Women's Golf Association met in Tauranga with Waihi, Te Puke, Mount Maunganui, Whakatane, Opotiki, Rotorua, Springfield, Paeroa, Te Aroha, and Tauranga clubs. Renamed Bay of Plenty-Thames Valley in 1966 and Bay of Plenty Golf Incorporated in 2006, the organization now includes Thames Valley Women's Clubs. In 2021, Bay of Plenty Golf partnered with Golf New Zealand to grow the sport's profile, increase participation, and support clubs in the region.
