Established in 2000 as a result of a merger between the former Opera New Zealand, National Opera of Wellington and Southern Opera in Christchurch. Today New Zealand Opera is reimagining the art form by embracing the diverse cultural and social identities of Aotearoa, to ensure a vibrant and sustainable presence for opera in New Zealand.
