The Kawhia Oyster farm is nested in the "MANGAORA INLET off PUTI POINT " which is located on the West Coast just out of Kawhia town ship. Kawhia is well known for producing an abundance of 100% organic Pacific Oysters, they
are arguably best eaten fresh, raw and straight from the shell, however they
can also be deep fried, baked, barbequed, poached, smoked, steamed, or used
in a soup/chowder.
Farming in this location is no easy feat as the environment has a reputation for
extreme WILD weather and tides. Our spat (baby oysters) settle in early
summer and grow on until mature at approximately 18 months. We endeavour to bring the best, to do our best all while contributing to
support our local community.
