Invercargill Club

The Invercargill club was founded on 16th September 1879 and was initially located at Albion Hotel in The Crescent. On 22nd April 1892 the Invercargill Club opened their purpose build club houses, designed by Charles Gilbertson at 32 Don Street. The Invercargill Club it is considered to be a fine example provincial nineteenth century clubs and holds a grade two heritage listing. It may have taken till the 1990's to welcome women as members but today the club has a diverse membership and an inclusive friendly atmosphere tempered with a good smattering of local history.
