Beginning in 1986 with a couple of machines and chainsaws clearing native, Mike Hurring Logging & Contracting today has over 50 employees spread across 9 crews in the Otago and Southland area of New Zealand. The main hub of MHL is Balclutha, Otago, although jobs have been done as far North as Geraldine and as far South as Nightcaps, as well as a stint in Canberra, Australia. As well as logging, MHL has turned a lot of attention to training to ensure the industry has plenty of skilled professionals, investing in 2 machine simulators and running week long block courses throughout the year.
