Chatto Creek Tavern

Chatto Creek Tavern is a historic tavern, built in 1886, it sits about 15 minutes out of Alexandra in Central Otago. The large beer garden is full of artwork and backs directly onto to the Central Otago Rail Trail with ample room for bikers to relax and enjoy a cold drink and some yummy food. Chatto Creek is also still very much a community tavern and is popular with its many locals. Chatto Creek Tavern incorporates the smallest operating Post Office in New Zealand. It also is the home Donkeys Henry and Honky who have lived at Chatto Creek for 15 years after being rescued from the Crown range, they are both believed to be about 30 years old.
